Risk management

Decide what a bot may lose before it trades.

Loss budgets, account limits and broker-held stops work in layers, so a single bot, a bad day or a long drawdown each hits a limit you set in advance.

In short

How does Jassrox manage risk on MT5?

Risk in Jassrox is set in layers. Autopilot sizes each basket to a loss budget; account settings cap the daily and weekly loss, the drawdown from peak and the lots held on one symbol; each bot can pause itself on a drawdown; and Autopilot lots carry a stop-loss at the broker.

Holds stop new entries and leave exits running. The reason for a hold is shown on the bot page.

The layers

Which risk limits can you set?

Account limits are per user and apply across your connected accounts. They are off until you set them, except the defaults written on your first Autopilot bot.

Loss budget per basket

A loss budget is the most one Autopilot basket may lose, as a percent of current equity. Lots are sized so the worst case, costs included, fits it.

Daily and weekly loss limits

A percent of equity per UTC day and per week. Closed losses plus floating losses count; once reached, new entries wait for the next window.

Maximum drawdown from peak

If equity falls this far below its high-water mark, every bot stops, new orders are blocked and open positions are closed.

Symbol exposure cap

The most lots all your bots may hold on one symbol in an account. An order that would exceed it is refused.

Per-bot auto-pause

A drawdown percent on a single bot. When its open position is down that much, the bot pauses new entries and you are notified.

News blackout

Holds entries around high-impact economic events. Autopilot always observes it; for other strategies it is an account setting.

Defaults

What limits are switched on for a new Autopilot account?

When you create your first Autopilot bot and have not set any account limit, Jassrox writes three conservative defaults: a 2 % daily loss limit, a 5 % weekly loss limit and a 10 % maximum drawdown. A limit you set is never overwritten, and limits you remove are not re-applied.

Broker-side protection

What is a broker-side backstop?

A backstop is a stop-loss held by the broker's own server, not by Jassrox. Autopilot ends a losing basket with its own basket stop; every Autopilot lot also carries a broker stop one step further out, so a position still has an exit if the engine is delayed. On Jassrox's MT5 terminals each lot's take-profit is held at the broker too.

Inside Autopilot

How does Autopilot limit repeated losses?

Cooldown after a stop

After a basket stop the bot waits an hour before trading the new plan, so it does not re-enter the same move.

Daily loss lock

Once the day's realized loss reaches three baskets' worth of budget, no new entry opens until the next UTC day.

Shared account cap

Several Autopilots on one account share a combined loss-budget cap, and the remaining daily or weekly allowance caps each new plan.

Plainly

What risk limits do, and what they do not

It does

  • Hold new entries on every bot of an account once its daily or weekly loss limit is reached.
  • Stop every bot and close their positions when equity falls past the drawdown limit.
  • Refuse an order that would take one symbol's total lots over your cap.
  • Show the reason for each hold on the bot page and send alerts for pauses and drawdown stops.

It does not

  • Guarantee that a loss stops exactly at the limit. Gaps and slippage can fill a stop at a worse price.
  • Close positions when a daily or weekly limit is hit. Those limits hold new entries; exits keep running.
  • Turn a losing strategy into a winning one.
  • Protect against a broker outage while the broker itself cannot accept orders.

FAQ

Questions people ask

All questions

How do I limit how much a trading bot can lose in a day?

Set a daily loss limit as a percent of equity in your account risk settings. When the account's closed losses for the UTC day plus the bots' floating losses reach it, new entries are held on every bot of that account until the next day. Exits keep running.

What happens when the maximum drawdown limit is hit?

If equity falls the set percentage below its peak, Jassrox stops every bot you run, blocks new orders, closes the bots' remaining positions and sends a drawdown alert. Restarting a bot that still holds positions needs your acknowledgement.

Are stop-losses placed at the broker or only inside Jassrox?

Both, for Autopilot. The engine runs a basket stop, and every Autopilot lot also carries a stop-loss held at the broker one step beyond it, as a backstop if the engine cannot act in time.

Can risk limits prevent all losses?

No. Limits bound how much a bot or an account is allowed to lose, but price gaps, slippage and broker outages can push a loss past a stop. Trading leveraged instruments can lose money.

Do the limits apply to every bot or only Autopilot?

The account limits (daily, weekly, drawdown and symbol exposure) apply to every bot. The per-basket loss budget, its holds and the daily loss lock belong to Autopilot; the auto-pause drawdown is set per bot.
