In short

What is this trading glossary for?

The Jassrox trading glossary defines the terms used on the site and in the app, from product terms such as Autopilot, loss budget and basket to general trading terms such as equity, margin, spread and slippage.

Every entry opens with a one-sentence definition followed by what it means in practice for an automated MT5 bot.

A

Autopilot is the Jassrox strategy where you choose only a market and a loss budget, and the engine derives the rest of the trading plan.

It runs the GRID engine with a range, step, lot size and stops worked out from live volatility, spread, your equity and your broker's lot limits, and re-plans only while the bot is flat.

How Autopilot works

Average True Range is a measure of how far an instrument's price typically moves per bar, including gaps.

Several strategies can size their stop-loss and take-profit as multiples of ATR, so stops widen in volatile markets and tighten in quiet ones.

B

A backtest replays a strategy's rules over past prices to see how it would have traded.

A backtest is useful for finding broken rules, but past results do not predict future ones, and costs, slippage and changing conditions can make live results very different.

Balance is the money in a trading account counting only closed trades.

Open positions do not change the balance until they close. Compare it with equity, which includes floating profit and loss.

A basket is the group of positions a grid or averaging bot opens around one plan, managed and closed together.

On Jassrox, Autopilot's loss budget is set per basket: a basket closes at its target or at its basket stop, and a new one starts from a fresh plan.

A basket stop closes every position in a basket once the basket's combined loss reaches a set level.

It limits the cost of a move that runs through a grid. Slippage and gaps can still make the actual loss larger than planned.

C

A cent account is a broker account denominated in cents of a currency, so balances and profits read 100 times larger than in dollars.

Jassrox shows a cent account's figures in its deposit currency, such as USC, the way your broker statement does, and reads amounts you type in that currency.

D

A daily loss limit stops new trading for the rest of the day once the day's losses reach a set share of the account.

On Jassrox it is one of the account-wide risk settings, together with a weekly loss limit, a maximum drawdown and a maximum exposure per symbol.

Risk management

DCA is a strategy that adds to a position at lower prices to lower its average entry, then exits the whole position above that average.

It wins often because it keeps adding until price recovers, which also means a market that keeps falling can produce a very large loss.

The DCA strategy

A demo account trades virtual money, so a strategy can be tested without risking real funds.

The Jassrox demo starts with $10,000 in virtual funds and can be reset at any time. Demo fills are simulated, so live results can differ.

Drawdown is the fall in account value from its highest point to a later low, usually shown as a percentage.

A maximum drawdown limit stops trading when the account has fallen a set percentage below its peak, whatever any single bot is doing.

E

Equity is the account balance plus or minus the floating profit and loss of open positions.

Equity is what the account is worth right now. Autopilot sizes its loss budget from current equity, not the balance.

An Expert Advisor is a program that trades automatically inside the MetaTrader terminal.

An EA usually needs a terminal running around the clock, often on a VPS. Jassrox bots run on Jassrox servers instead, so you do not install or host an EA.

G

The grid step is the price distance between two neighbouring levels of a grid.

A step close to the spread trades often and pays the cost every time; a step several times the spread leaves each swing worth more than it costs.

Grid trading places trades at evenly spaced price levels inside a range, buying as price falls and selling as it rises.

It suits markets that move back and forth. A sustained breakout through the range is its main risk.

The GRID strategy

I

An investor password is a read-only MT5 login that can view an account but cannot place trades.

A bot needs the trading password. If you connect with the investor password, Jassrox shows the account as read-only.

L

Leverage lets you control a position larger than your deposit, using money effectively lent by the broker.

It magnifies losses as much as gains, which is why leveraged products such as CFDs can lose money quickly.

A loss budget is the most one losing basket is planned to cost, set as a percentage of current equity.

It is one of Autopilot's two settings. The engine sizes positions so a basket stop costs about the budget; slippage and gaps can make a real loss larger.

Autopilot

A lot is the standard unit of trade size in MT5, where one standard forex lot is 100,000 units of the base currency.

Brokers set a minimum lot, often 0.01, and a lot step. Contract sizes vary between instruments and brokers, so check yours.

M

Margin is the part of your equity a broker sets aside to keep leveraged positions open.

If equity falls too close to the margin in use, the broker can close positions automatically. Autopilot holds new baskets when the margin would not fit.

MCP is an open protocol that lets AI assistants call tools in other applications.

Jassrox Agent is an MCP server, so a compatible AI assistant can read your bots and, with a key that allows it, act on them.

Agent & API

MetaTrader 5 is a trading platform that many brokers offer for forex, metals, indices and other CFDs.

Jassrox connects to MT5 accounts with the account's login, password and server.

Supported brokers

A moving average is the average price over a set number of recent prices, recalculated as each new price arrives.

Trend Following and Pullback use a fast and a slow moving average to decide whether a trend exists.

P

A pip is a standard unit of price movement, 0.0001 for most currency pairs and 0.01 for pairs quoted in yen.

Several strategies accept stops and targets in pips as well as percentages. Metals and indices use their own price increments.

Profit factor is gross profit divided by gross loss over a set of closed trades.

Above 1 means winners made more than losers lost. It says nothing about drawdown or the future, and a small sample can make it misleading.

A prop firm is a company that gives traders a funded account to trade, usually after a challenge, under strict loss rules.

Breaking a firm's daily or total loss rule usually ends the account. Check the firm's rules on automation before running a bot.

Prop-firm checklist

R

RSI is an oscillator from 0 to 100 that compares recent gains with recent losses.

Low readings are called oversold and high readings overbought. A strong trend can hold RSI at an extreme for a long time.

The RSI Reversal strategy

S

Slippage is the difference between the price an order was meant to fill at and the price it actually filled at.

It grows in fast or thin markets and around news, and it can make a loss larger than a stop was planned for.

The spread is the gap between the buy (ask) and sell (bid) price, and it is a cost paid on every trade.

Spreads widen around news, at the daily rollover and in thin markets. Grid bots on Jassrox skip new entries while the spread is wide relative to the step.

A stop loss is an order or rule that closes a position once the loss reaches a set price or amount.

It limits the loss on a single trade but does not guarantee the exit price: gaps and slippage can fill it worse.

Swap is the overnight financing charge or credit a broker applies to positions held past the daily rollover.

It depends on the instrument, the direction and the broker, and it adds up on positions held for days.

A symbol suffix is the extra text a broker adds to an instrument name, as in XAUUSDm or EURUSD.raw.

Jassrox matches suffixed names to the underlying instrument and trades the exact symbol your account uses.

T

A take profit is an order or rule that closes a position once the profit reaches a set price or amount.

Pairing a take profit with a stop loss means winning trades close on purpose rather than being given back.

A trailing stop is a stop loss that follows price in the trade's favour and never moves back.

Trend Following can use an ATR-based trail that also moves the stop to breakeven once the trade is in profit.

V

A VPS (virtual private server) is a rented remote computer, often used to keep a trading terminal running all day.

Jassrox bots run on Jassrox servers, so you do not need a VPS or a computer left on.

Cloud MT5 execution

W

A webhook is a web address that one service calls to tell another that something happened.

A TradingView alert can call a Jassrox bot's webhook to start or stop that bot.

TradingView alerts

Win rate is the share of closed trades that made a profit.

A high win rate can hide a few very large losses, which is common in grid and DCA strategies. Read it alongside drawdown and profit factor.

FAQ

Questions people ask

All questions

What is the difference between balance and equity?

Balance counts only closed trades. Equity adds the floating profit or loss of open positions, so it shows what the account is worth right now.

What does drawdown mean in trading?

Drawdown is the fall in account value from its highest point to a later low, usually as a percentage. A maximum drawdown limit stops trading once that fall reaches a set level.

What is a loss budget?

On Jassrox, a loss budget is the most one losing Autopilot basket is planned to cost, as a percentage of current equity. Slippage and gaps can make a real loss larger.

What is the difference between a pip and a lot?

A pip measures price movement, such as 0.0001 on most currency pairs. A lot measures trade size, such as 100,000 units for one standard forex lot. Together they decide how much a move is worth.
